paris is always a nice idea!

a month has passed since the tragic events in Paris & Europe is still trying to heal its wounds.
Paris is a special place for me... it is the place where I got married, the place where I celebrated my 30th birthday, the place I visit when I have an important reason to celebrate life!
however, it is always better to let French people express their feelings about this magnificent city. this is exactly what Benjamin Millepied, director of the Paris Opera Ballet & husband of Natalie Portman, did through this stunning short film. a pair of dancers are virtually flying above the roof of the Palais Garner. & Paris is ready to welcome a new era...

when fashion meets art (part. 2)

here is another example of the often intermingled paths of fashion & art. of course, art can take whichever form. & one thing in common between this example & the previous one is that both protagonists are in their own distinct way fashion icons. so, if you have 15 minutes to spare, watch this short film written & directed by Geremy Jasper for Belstaff.
"Outlaws" is a surreal film within a film starring David Beckham as the stranger - a mysterious drifter & motorcycle stuntman, haunted by memories of a beautiful trapeze artist & hunted by a maniacal director seeking revenge, as mentioned on the Belstaff webpage. Intrigued?

when fashion meets art (part. 1)

i am almost speechless to discover this amazing coverage of Cate Blanchett for W Magazine, December/January issue.

she is anyway one of my favourite actresses, but these images are just beyond any imagination. & there are just the perfect example of how fashion & art are so intertwined, that sometimes it can be difficult to tell them apart.

if you also want to have a look at the interview itself, just press here.

mac 'n' cheese

yesterday i was craving for mac 'n' cheese...

{Andrew Scrivani for The New York Times, source:}

yep, it was one of these days where my stomach was desperately asking for some comfort food to go through the day. i looked in vain for restaurants nearby to accommodate my "urgent" desire (i also need to make a mental note of this gap in Zurich's culinary map.... it's not the only gap, but this is another huge topic...). as I had to improvise (a.k.a. cook something myself), i googled & ended up with not one, but three amazing recipes. have a look!

a. a killer mac 'n'cheese, as Jamie names it; Jamie needs no introduction, he is the one and only Jamie Oliver.

b. mac and cheese greek style by the not-just-handsome Greek chef Akis Petretzikis.

c. grown-up mac and cheese with truffle oil; i discovered this one at i am a food blog; the recipe is by Heston Blumenthal, the famous chef behind The Fat Duck, a 3-Michelin star restaurant and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.

for more info (all the ingredients you need & a step-by-step execution of the recipe as found in its original source), just click on the recipe's name.
& if you consider yourself a "close-to-being-professional" chef, why don't you also try these interesting combinations that i found at

i went for Jamie's recipe, as I had almost all the ingredients at home. however, i feel so bad for not taking some time to take a photo before devouring my dish...
enjoy cooking & bon appetit!
